Daniel R. Bohnsack, 40

Daniel R. Bohnsack, age 40, of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Rochester Methodist Hospital.  Dan was definitively diagnosed with a very aggressive Stage 4 pancreatic cancer just 13 days prior to his passing.  Dan was born on March 10, 1981 in New Prague to Richard A. and Barbara M. (Flicek) Bohnsack.  He graduated from New Prague High School in 1999 and attained a degree in auto mechanics from Dakota County Technical College.  Dan was self-employed with his brother, Dave, at Reliable Recovery.  Dan was an active member of the Sno-Drifters snowmobile club.  He was passionate about farming and Oliver tractors, collecting and restoring them and was a loyal entrant in New Prague’s Dozinky Festival’s farm pride parade every year. His interest in the mechanics of motorized vehicles also fed his enjoyment of stock car racing.  Though a man who was more comfortable in the background, avoiding the spotlight, Dan was also a man with a heart of gold, who would give the shirt off his back.  He was dependable and trustworthy and one of his greatest worries when getting this diagnosis, was letting down the neighborhood ladies for whom he plowed snow every winter, knowing that he would not be able to perform that task this year.  He was devoted to his nephews and especially to his constant companion, Rayne, the family’s golden lab.  He will be sorely missed by his family and the many friends he carried throughout his life.

Dan is survived by his parents, Barbara & Richard of New Prague; brothers, David of New Prague & Michael (Michelle) of Montgomery; sister, Brenda (Brandon) Petersen of New Prague; nephews, Wyatt, Nathaniel, Bennett, & baby boy Petersen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with a visitation from 10 – 2 PM.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
