Deborah A. Bolanda, 68

Deborah A. Bolanda, age 68, died suddenly on Sunday, May 20, 2018, with her husband at her side at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.  Deb was born on August 3, 1949 in New Prague to Harley H. and Hildegaard I.C. (Tietz) Meyer.  She attended County District 61 Elementary School, graduated from New Prague High School, and earned her LPN degree at Miller Hospital School of Nursing.  She started out working at Queen of Peace Hospital and then went to Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, where she met her husband, Alan, and finished her career there until retirement.  She married Alan R. Bolanda on September 1, 1973.  Deb was an excellent weaver of rag rugs, loved cooking and reading cookbooks.  She enjoyed bird-watching and gardening as well.  Though a very private person, Deb had a wonderful sense of humor, was outgoing, very generous, and always willing to help others. 

Deb is survived by her loving husband, Alan of New Prague; brother, Henry (Marie) Meyer of New Prague; sisters, Sandy (Tom) Thomsen of Prior Lake and Sharon (Gene) Avikainen of Shakopee; brother-in-law, Dale Simonette of Chanhassen; a number of nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eileen Simonette.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 4:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Henry Koch officiating.  Visitation will take place at church 2 hours prior to service from 2-4 PM.  Burial will occur at Friedens Lutheran Cemetery with lunch following in the church hall.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
