Donald J. Schultz, 77

Donald J. Schultz, age 77, of New Prague, died peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee.  Don was born on June 14, 1941 in Shakopee to Donald E. and Elizabeth M. (Abeln) Schultz.  He graduated from Shakopee High School and then entered the US Marines.  Following his military service, he married Phyllis K. Hoffbeck on April 8, 1972 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage.  The couple started out in Jordan and moved to New Prague in 1980.  Don worked for Ziegler Corporation in Bloomington as a heavy equipment mechanic.  He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed newspapers, variety magazines, and anything related to history.  He was passionate about politics.

Don is survived by his children, Anthony Schultz of New Prague, Lisa (& Mike) Henderson of Rosemount, Pam Schultz (& Sigmund Mueller) of New Prague, Dana Schultz of Le Center, Stephen Schultz (& Catie Marcell) of New Prague, Theresa (& Jon) Miller of Veseli; siblings, Mary Hallich of Florida, Monica (& Delton) Giese of Shakopee, Anita (& Tom) Roeser of Shakopee, Pete Schultz of Hackensack, Elise (& Les) Guthrie of Florida, Joe Schultz of Chaska; 9 grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis on May 14, 2009; parents; sister, Kath Siler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place Tuesday from 4-7 PM and Wednesday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial with military honors provided by the New Prague Area Honor Guard will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.  Lunch will follow at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague. bruzekfuneralhome.com
