Elaine I. Jacobson, 90

Elaine I. Jacobson, age 90, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side as a result of complications due to Covid 19 on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living. 

Elaine was born on February 19, 1930 in Watson, MN to Emil and Inga (Midtlyng) Lyngen.  She graduated from Montevideo High School and went on to attain her Registered Nurse degree from Fairview School of Nursing.  She married the love of her life, Lloyd Jacobson on September 17^, 1954 in St. Paul, MN.  Elaine worked all her life, first as an RN mostly at St. John’s Hospital in St. Paul, briefly in a dental office, and as a census taker for the 1980 census.  She then went to work and retired from the State of Minnesota in the Bridge Department.  Elaine was no stranger to hardship, having lost her mother from cancer at age 5 and her son, Douglas, at age 12.  Tragedy didn’t daunt her, however, and she was a woman of great energy and many talents.  She taught Sunday school when her children were little and was always sewing, making many matching outfits for her daughters.  She enjoyed crocheting and music, teaching herself to play the piano; she could play any song without needing music and used this gift throughout her life to the enjoyment of everyone around her.  Before her husband’s death, the couple loved to travel and especially enjoyed the every weekend trip that they would make to New Prague to see her daughter and family.  In her later years, she loved babysitting and both regular and crossword puzzles.  She will be sorely missed by her family and the caretakers who grew to love her at Mala Strana.

 Elaine is survived by her daughters, Donna Galvin of New Prague and Diane (Tim) Brennan of St. Paul; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband on May 23, 1997; son, Douglas; parents; sisters, Alvina Sanford & Mildred Just.

 A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Maplewood with Reverend Diane Goulson officiating.  Masks and social distancing will be required at the cemetery.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
