Everything comes together for One Book, One New Prague

All the elements came together for this year’s One Book, One New Prague event at Next Chapter Winery last weekend: good weather, an entertaining author, and an engaged group of about 100 readers. The event was sponsored by the New Prague Community Action Network, Scott County Library, Next Chapter Winery, and Giesenbrau Bier Company.
This year’s novel was “The Lager Queen of Minnesota” by bestselling author J. Ryan Stradal. The author spoke with humor about his trials as a writer, and about his upbringing in Hastings that provided inspiration for the book. Stradal said he was too intimidated in college to major in English. In the beginning writing was always something he did on the side while he pursued interests in television and film. He worked in reality TV for 14 years, including a stint for The Bachelorette.
