Florence M. Hanek, 97

Florence M. Hanek, age 97, of Lonsdale, MN, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2024, at the Northfield Hospital in Northfield, MN, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents; Douglas Victor Snelling, Margaret Palen Snelling, her siblings, Edward, Douglas, Dorothy Rutherford and beloved husband of 57 years, Alois Hanek. 

She actively bowled on a league team until the age of 90.  She was a long time member of the Lonsdale American Legion, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved to fish and was an avid reader, well known at the Lonsdale Library.

She is survived  by her children; Kathy (Steve) Sevcik, Nancy Hanek, Carol (Mike) Mieszczur, and Paul Hanek (fiancé Susanna Maye); grandchildren, Amy, Scott, Sarah, Lee, Lauren and James; great-grandchildren, Max, Zack, Summer, Sophie, Ramsey, Scarlett, Evelyn and Harmon, other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will take place Thursday, August 1, at 9:30 a.m. at White Funeral Home in Lonsdale.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 1, at 11 a.m. at I.C. Church in Lonsdale. Interment at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested by the family are to: Dementia Society of America, Literacy Minnesota, or the Lonsdale Library.
