Gary “The Reaper” Coopman, 65

Gary “The Reaper” Coopman, age 65, passed away at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato on November 24, 2021 following a brief illness.

Please join us for services on December 11, 2021 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. and a brief service at 3 p.m. Private family interment will be at Decoria Cemetery in rural Mankato at a later date. The service will be livestreamed and available on Gary’s obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Gary was born on August 29, 1956 to Ernie and Sharon (Schindle) Coopman, he was the oldest of six children. After graduating from St. Claire High School in 1974, he went on to become a truck driver who owned his own business and a master mechanic.

Gary enjoyed spending time and having adventures with his granddaughters, nieces and nephews, as well as driving the open road – both in his semi and on his motorcycle. Even though Gary pretended he was a tough guy, he was extremely kind-hearted and always helped and pulled for the underdogs in life. He had an intense personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Gary is survived by his wife, Debra Wolter; daughter, Marcella Daniels (Troy Reimer); granddaughters, Gracie and Aria Reimer; sisters, Rhonda Coopman, Kris Ulrich, Jolene (Dan) Tischer; brothers, Dale Coopman and John (Heather) Coopman; special friend, Bethany Peterson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Angela.
