Girls to face Holy Family in finale

The New Prague Trojan girls soccer team went 1-1-1 last week, tieing Rockford 1- 1, defeating Hutchinson 4-0 and losing to Orono by the same 4-0 score.

New Prague was scheduled to host Jordan in a makeup game Tuesday, Oct. 2. The girls will conclude their season on the road Thursday, Oct. 4, when they play at Holy Family Catholic at 5 p.m.

New Prague will open the Section 1AA playoffs Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Trojans can expect to be seeded sixth or seventh. They will most likely be seeded ahead of Rochester Mayo, based on a 2-0 win earlier in the season. Possible first round opponents are Lakeville North, Lakeville South, Farmington or Owatonna. Seeding is this weekend and will be posted online at The Times’ website, newpraguetimes. com.

Playoffs continue Thursday, Oct. 11, and Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Trojans 1, Rockets 1 After a scoreless first half, Lana Krautkremer put the Trojans on top 1-0 on a goal early in the second, with an assist by her sister Laura Krautkremer to make it 1-0.

Rockford was able to tie it up 1-1 with 12 minutes left, and the teams played scoreless the rest of the way.

"This was a game that was winnable, and we definitely outplayed Rockford," Coach Matt Anderson said. "I told the girls after the game that the 1-1 final did not do justice to how we dominated the second half. We created five or six quality chances and were only able to convert on one. I was really happy with the mentality of our girls. We kept it simple and had possession for 80 percent of the second half."

Trojans 4, Tigers 0 New Prague took a 3-0 first half lead in their game at Hutchinson, with two goals by Aidan McLoone and one by Keelie Buesgens. Laura Krautkremer added a secondhalf goal to make the final 4- 0. Evie Wegner made 3 saves in the shutout.
