Gymnasts reach 140 points for first time this season

Despite losing their match with Lakeville North Thursday, Dec. 12, New Prague gymnastics coach Mark Morphew took away a lot of positives.

North scored 143.500 while the Trojans scored 140.700 in the dual.

“Cracking 140 points any time is a great accomplishment but it is especially nice to do this early in the year,” Morphew said.

“We had a good meet with lots of good routines. We had some new skills thrown for the first time in competition.”

Jadyn Klein had the top individual finish for New Prague, placing second on the balance beam (9.000). Ashley Goodlund of Lakeville North won the competition (9.350).

“Jadyn threw her back tuck on beam for the first time in competition,” Morphew said. “She suffered a knee injury last spring and had subsequent surgery. She is coming back strong on beam and bars.”

Brenna Solheid and Emmalyn Dickerson tied for fourth place on the beam (8.800).
