Hops for Hope raises more than $20,000

“The turnout has just been overwhelming, it’s amazing,” said JeNean Erickson about Hops for Hope, a benefit for the Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter of the ALS Association. Held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Giesenbrau Bier Co. in New Prague, the benefit had more than 500 people attend and more than $20,000 was raised.

The two hour fundraiser included beer, music, a silent auction and the "Brick Oven Bus" food truck, which actually had a brick oven built into the bus. Music was provided by the trio of Gary Pikal, Steve Skluzacek and Rick Hanzel and then Bob Zelenka.

“What’s so amazing to me is the silent auction and the support people have shown with it,” said Erickson. She noted there were 80 auction items donated. There were also $20 mystery boxes, where a person bought a box and then opened it to find a message telling them what they had bought.
