Julianne H. Carpentier, 96

Julianne H. Carpentier, age 96, of  New Market, died peacefully with her family present on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Northfield Hospital.  Julianne was born on July 25, 1922 in Jordan, MN to Guido and Lena (Lambrecht) Wermerskirchen.  She graduated from St. John the Baptist Elementary School and Jordan High School.  She was employed as a records file clerk for Minneapolis Honeywell for 4 ½ years during WWII.  Following the war, she married the love of her life, Roger A. “Carp” Carpentier on November 26, 1945 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan.  The couple resided in Mason City, Iowa for four years prior to moving to New Prague in 1951 and then finally to New Market in 1954.

Julianne was a woman of deep faith and she was involved in volunteer work for her church and community throughout her life.  She counted numerous priests as personal friends and was involved in the sponsorship of future priests during their seminary experiences.  She was a member of the church choir at St. Nicholas for 32 years and a member of Christian Mothers Ladies Guild.  Her volunteerism extended into the community throughout the area.  She was involved with Friends of the Library for the New Market library and she was a charter member of the Queen of Peace Hospital Auxiliary for 25 years and received the award for Auxilian of the Year in 1991-1992.

Julianne’s greatest legacy was her dedication to her family.  She had an indomitable spirit and strength in both character and the fierce love she gave her family.  Her focus in life was taking care of and loving them.  Her grandchildren always felt that they were the singularly most important person in the world when they were in her presence.  She thoroughly enjoyed playing the piano with them and everything musical.

Julianne is survived by her children, Steven (Deborah) Carpentier of Faribault, Nancy Roering (Larry Clark) of Melrose, Susan Carpentier of Maple Grove, Paulette (Larry) Siedow of Shorewood, Thomas Carpentier of Elko New Market; daughter-in-law, Mary Pat Carpentier of Northfield; sisters-in-law, Myrna & Marilyn Wermerskirchen both of Jordan; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger “Carp” on October 9, 1995; son Kevin; son-in-law, Thomas Roering; siblings, Walter (Evelyn), Roman (Ruth), Melvin (Loretta), Viola (Art Deutsch), Ralph, Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market with Father Patrick Barnes officiating.  Visitation will take place Sunday from 3-7 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home and at church 1 hour prior to Mass.  Burial will occur in the church cemetery followed by lunch in the church basement.
