Kim Hoppert, teacher at Eagle View honored

One of Kim Hoppert’s favorite places to be is in a classroom helping her students learn. The fourth-grade teacher at Eagle View Elementary School was recently honored for her commitment to teaching students. (John Mueller photo)

Although she grew up in New Prague, Eagle View Elementary School in Elko New Market has a special place in Kim Hoppert’s heart. It’s where her mom worked and today she is a fourth-grade teacher.

It’s also a place where Hoppert has earned the respect and admiration of her students and colleagues alike.

Hoppert attended New Prague Elementary School (known today as Falcon Ridge). She learned about the unique characteristics of Eagle View from her mom, who worked as the school principal’s executive assistant when it opened in 2006.

Hoppert was recently honored for her contributions to the school and its students. The honor includes a $1,000 check for her to invest in her classroom and fourth-grade students. She was caught off-guard when the TV news crew visiting at the school recently for an assembly was more interested in her work than the school’s fundraiser. Hoppert’s mom, Darcy, was in the audience as were two of her three children, Brynlee and Braelyn, both students at Eagle View.

“Kim is an amazing person, teacher, friend and coworker,” said Candice Ries, a third grade teacher at Eagle View. “She puts everyone else first always. I've come to her a few times this year asking her for some support with an extra project. Even though she had just returned from her maternity leave, she jumped right up and was willing to help me. In fact, she went above any beyond just like she always does.”
