Legion team eliminated from tourney

The New Prague Post 45 American Legion baseball team couldn’t hold on to a 5-2 lead and lost to St. Paul Park 7-6 in the Sub-State Tournament Friday, July 26, ending their season with a 10-7 record.
New Prague parlayed a leadoff single and a double by Nate Picka, along with two errors, into a pair of runs in the first inning, and scored once in the second and twice in the third, again with the aid of errors.
New Prague returns the favor in the fifth, allowing Park to score three runs on one hit, along with a pair of walks, two errors and a hit batter to take the lead for good.
Picka had two hits - both doubles - and two RBIs. Jay Skogerboe started and took the loss, with Sam Novak pitching in relief.
