Marian Rud, 87
Marian Rud, age 87, of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2023 at the Presbyterian Home of Bloomington. She was born March 31st, 1935 to Wencel and Bessie Pexa and grew up on farms near St. Patrick, Mn. She was wed to Don Rud on August 3, 1957 and they were married for more than 63 years until his death in 2021. They moved to Bloomington in 1960 and raised their four boys there.
Marian was preceded in death by Don; her parents; brothers: George, Leonard, and Danny; son-in-law Jose Perez. She is survived by her sons: Glen (Crystal), Paul (Claire), Mark, and Joel (Sandy); sister: Angie Singer; brother: Allen Pexa; sisters-in-law: Helen and Diane Pexa; brother-in-law: Stanley Rud (Wendy); grandchildren: Tanya, Briana, Kara, Christopher, Lauren, Nathan, Hannah, Nicole, Levi, Steven, and Rachel; great-grandchildren: Kiriana and Alyssa.
Marian was the consummate homemaker and caregiver. She spoiled Don and the boys with her great cooking and baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary. She maintained her farm girl roots by tending a very large and successful vegetable garden. In addition to managing the home front, she worked as an Avon Lady, house keeper, and volunteer. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she was a longtime member of Assumption Catholic Church of Richfield, Mn. She enjoyed golf, reading, St. Patrick baseball, fishing, and getting together with friends and family.
Her funeral service will be at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home located at 2300 West Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2 pm. Family and friends may gather starting at 1 pm. Memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick Baseball Association or Assumption Catholic Church of Richfield. Interment with Don will be at a later date at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather after the ceremony at Everett McClay VFW Post 1296 at 9014 Lyndale Avenue South in Bloomington.
