Mountain Bike Team takes 1st at Duluth

The New Prague Mountain Bike Team raced in Detroit Mountain Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6.

It rained all day Saturday for the middle school races and left a muddy mess for Sunday’s high school races, but that didn’t stop the New Prague racers from shining.

Middle Schooler Aidan Rosemeier took third place. His middle school teammates didn’t let him down with some strong finishes. Chasing each other were sixth grade riders Joe Frensko in sixth and Vlad Lexa in seventh right behind him. Seventh grader Jacob Clough finished eighth.

High school riders tackled the mud. Representing the boys, freshman Zachary Pierce took ninth, JV2 boys rider Marcus Vasecka took second place and Mason Bakken took ninth.

Girls had some strong finishes too. Varsity rider Nora Rosemeier took third, JV3 girls rider Selah Scherman took 9th, and JV2 rider Sydney Stenger took 10th.

The next weekend the New Prague Mountain Bike Team did not let the weather nor mechanical challenges at Duluth’s Spirit Mountain get in the way of them bringing home some more hardware.
