As 2018 drew to a close, Praha Village, New Prague’s new senior apartment complex at 1100 First St. SE, was in the finishing stages of preparing to open to residents. Within the first month of 2019 they expect to be open to independent living residents on Tuesday, Jan. 15, although people can move in before that date. Assisted living and memory care residents will be in by February 1.

“Things have been going really good. We’re really pleased with the number of people we have so far,” said Praha Villages’s Director of Marketing Shelly Krueger. Of the new residents approximately 55 percent are from the New Prague area, while 45 percent are coming from farther than 50 miles to be closer to family in the area.

There are 91 apartments at the four-story facility. There are two bedrooms and two baths and one bedroom and one bath apartments. The apartments include a kitchen and washer and dryer. There are independent and assisted living apartments. Krueger said they also offer apartments at reduced rates based on income. She said they are pleased to offer elderly waiver options for housing that they are working with Le Sueur County on. They also have specialized memory care apartments. Their philosophy is to create personalized plans for care and engagement to support the level and type of care a person may need.
