Ray Moran, 98 - UPDATED with Celebration information

Ray Moran, age 98, died peacefully with his son at his side, on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Ray was born on November 1, 1920 in New Prague to Amab F. and Emma (Blaha) Moran, Jr.  He graduated from New Prague High School, entered the US Navy and served in both WWII and the Korean War.  He married Marie Branson on November 1, 1945 in California and made their home there, where their two sons were born and Ray worked as a carpenter.  They moved to Alaska in 1956 and Ray continued to work as a carpenter and then finally as an assistant business manager for the carpenter’s union until his retirement.  Ray moved back to Minnesota shortly after his wife’s death in 1987.

Ray was a member of the American Legion and was a past member of the Eagles.  He was a man of many interests, which included bowling in his younger years.  He dabbled in fishing and hunting and more recently, he could be found playing pool around the New Prague area.  He was a voracious walker until Marcie Hadac,  his partner in more recent years, experienced mobility issues. Throughout his life, he enjoyed reading.

Ray is survived by his son, James T. (Joeann) Moran of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Adams, Jill (Tom) Baxter, Jeff (Danielle) Moran; 5 great-grandsons, Jed, Ty, Xavier, Luke, & Jimi.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 1987; son, Steven; special friend, Marcie Hadac; brothers, Emil, Miles, & Leonard; sisters, Anastasia Quinell, Emily Roger, Leona Wilkins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place from 9:30 - 11:00 at the funeral home. Lunch will follow the service at the Legion Clubroom.
