Rose Ann Solheid, 86

Rose Ann Solheid, age 86, died peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Rose Ann was born on August 5, 1934 in Cedar Lake Township, Scott County to Mathias T. and Bessie (Barta) Sirek.  She attended country school at Veseli and graduated from New Prague High School.  She married the love of her life, Harold J. Solheid on December 1, 1956 in Veseli.  Tragedy struck in 1982 with a farming accident, leaving Rose Ann a widow with 5 children.  She became an inspiration to her family when she faced this tragedy head-on and became the independent, accomplished woman that life demanded.  She worked in many areas of the banking industry for numerous banks in New Prague, retiring well into her 70’s.  Rose Ann had a positive, fun-loving attitude and there was nothing more important than her family, attending all the activities and sporting events of her grandchildren, even traveling into Iowa to make that happen.  She was active in St. Wenceslaus CCW, a “BBQ Bunch” for many years, and numerous card groups.  She belonged to a bowling league and traveled with them to national tournaments.  Her travel was not limited to those events, however, and she traveled at every opportunity with both family and friends, including Europe and even signing up for a trip to Jerusalem in her 70’s despite not knowing anyone else on the trip.  Her zest for life and her easy and affable spirit will be sorely missed by her devoted family and the caregivers at Mala Strana who grew to love her.

Rose Ann is survived by her children, Deb (Ron) Busch of New Prague, Sandy (Joe) Simon of Lonsdale, Greg Solheid of New Prague, Sharon (Mike) Rezac of Veseli, Sheryl (Dave) Docken of Northfield; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Sirek of Webster, Mathias (Diane) Sirek of Webster; sisters, Ann (Alfred) Zaun of Shakopee, Sister Adelia, O.S.B. of St. Cloud.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold on October 29, 1982; parents; brothers, Francis & Joseph Sirek; sisters, Catherine Bisek & Mary Regnier.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating.  Mass will be live-streamed at NPCatholic.org.  There is a private family visitation ONLY.  Public may enter church beginning at 10:30 AM.  Masks and social distancing will be required both in church and at the cemetery.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery immediately after Mass.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. bruzekfuneralhome.com
