Sheila M. Brewers, 70

Brewers, Sheila M., age 70 of Montgomery, passed away March 21, 2019. Sheila Marie Brewers, or "Poopsie", as some so fondly called her, was born May 17, 1948 in Marshall, MN. She attended school in Ghent, MN and later pursued her GED. She was happily married to Joseph Brewers on November 10th, 1973. In the late spring of 1984 Sheila packed up her small town life and headed east for “the cities” – Ironically, landing in Montgomery, MN – yet another small town a little over an hour outside the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN). Closer to the cities Sheila eagerly pursued a career in the field of construction. She aspired to run a dozer, similarly to her husband, Joe, but through her schooling wound up operating a cherry picker. Later, this led to a long career as a crane operator, working on projects like - the High Bridge in St. Paul and the Excel Center. In her spare time, she retired to her split entry home on 2.5 acres of land. It wasn’t long before Sheila transformed the barren plot of land to an oasis surrounded by a grove of evergreens. She had many beautiful flower gardens – tailored to accommodate her favorite Monarch Butterflies. Her yard was constantly filled with song, from dawn to dusk, from the many handmade bird feeders dappled around the land. Sheila was particularly fond of her humming birds and Baltimore orioles – taking extra care to make sure their feeders were always filled and fresh. Sheila had a vegetable garden that was the envy of the family. With the tireless efforts of Joe, she attained tomato plants that towered over the average, and its fruit was quadruple the size! They grew peppers and onions for our annual tradition of canning salsa, whole tomatoes, and tomato juice; beans, carrots, potatoes, and other assorted fruits and vegetables. In the evenings she enjoyed playing alongside friends in their pool league for many years, travelling to neighboring towns, and collecting a bounty of trophies throughout her life. Above all she enjoyed resting in her “Piece of Heaven”. A perfect little spot with just the right amount of shade and sun, surrounded by her birds and flowers. A gentle breeze would rustle through the grove, make the tree branches sway; a whisper that could lull the anxious, ease tensions, and bring about happiness to any who inhabit it. The “Piece of Heaven” is her happy place - and will remain a happy place for many years to come.

Preceded in death by her mother, Marie; brothers, Jerry, Jimmy, and Bob, and sister, Joyce. Survived by her husband, Joe; children, Kim (Chris) Birk and Jon Boe; grandchildren, Nickole, Katelyn, Jonny, Travis, and Carly; sisters, Jean (Craig) Winter and Judy (Todd) Hively; also by other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Friday, April 5, 2019 at White Funeral Home (Hwy 19) Lonsdale.  Memorial Visitation one hour prior to the service. Online condolences at: www.whitefuneralhomes.com
