Shirley A. Sticha, 61

Shirley A. Sticha, age 61, of Webster, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Shirley was born on September 25, 1957 in New Prague to William and Bernadine (Kubes) Svoboda. She attended St. Nicholas Parochial School and graduated from New Prague High School. Shirley married the love of her life, Charles A. “Charlie” Sticha on September 19, 1978 at St. Nicholas Church in New Market. The couple made their home in Webster where they raised their three children. Shirley worked many jobs throughout her life and most recently at Brewsters and The Ranchero. She was very involved with Most Holy Trinity Church and in the earlier years of their marriage, with snowmobile clubs.

Shirley was devoted to and lived for her family. Her favorite activity was riding the Bushog side-by-side with the grandkids laughing on her lap and Daisie Mae, her furred companion, along for the ride. She loved being outdoors, was known for her beautiful flowers and love of birds. Shirley was a spitfire and the life of every party; she was a consummate people person and often the instigator of a joke or prank that had everyone laughing. She was Charlie’s biggest groupie when he played dances and loved a good polka; she had the ability to teach even the least coordinated partner how to dance the polka. She lived for the family vacations every year and her love of travel gave the family a lasting memory when they recently traveled to the Czech Republic.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Charlie; children, Carla Sticha and special friend, Jeff Ingvalson, Carissa (Seth) Holman, Curt (Elyse) Sticha; grandchildren, Kamryn, Kason, William; mother, Bernadine Svoboda; siblings, Eddie (Anne) Svoboda, Dorothy (Jack) Tuma, Charlotte (Vern) Trcka, Billy (Kathy) Svoboda, Betty Svoboda; brother-in-law, Norbert Sticha. She is preceded in death by her father, William Svoboda; sister, Cathy Sticha.

Visitation will take place Monday from 4-8 PM and Tuesday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home.
