Shivaun Marie (Burns) Allan, 65
Shivaun Marie (Burns) Allan, mother, grandmother and friend, returned to her Lord on Dec.13, 2024. She died from ovarian cancer at age 65.
Shivaun was born July 19, 1959, to Eileen (Wolff) Burns and Edward Burns and grew up in New Prague, MN, where she graduated high school in 1977. In 1981, she earned a bachelor's degree in human services at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
She lived in Mound, MN, for many years while she raised her three children. Later in life, she moved to Arizona to pursue a master's degree in education from Northern Arizona University. She taught special education with a big heart and a special ability to connect with the kids. When she moved back to Minnesota, she was grateful to be closer to her grandchildren, who were the most important people in her life. Her "Grandma Tree" was decorated with the kids' pictures, and any art they made was displayed in its branches.
Shivaun strove to be giving and kind whenever she could. She tried to keep a positive attitude, even in the toughest of times, and always reminded her children to "fake it ’til you make it."
Shivaun was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father. She is survived by brother Tom Burns of Aitkin, MN; children Megan (Justin) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; Katy (Tristan) Michaud of Sioux Falls, SD; Sean (Christina) Koehn of Belle Plaine, MN; and nephew Kevin (Cassie) Burns of Aitkin, MN. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Max, Quinn, David, Edward and Josephine.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg with Father Eugene Theisen officiating. Visitation will be held at church for 1 hour prior to Mass, starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
