Spring sports underway at NPHS

It may be Spring Break, but most spring sports teams at New Prague High School are busy practicing for the upcoming season. The first competitions get underway next week.
There are 10 spring sports this year at New Prague High School, with the addition of boys and girls lacrosse. Those two teams will field a junior varsity team this season. Seven of the 10 teams have begun workouts, with the lacrosse teams and adapted softball starting practice on Monday, April 1.
Here is an overview of the sports teams.
Boys and girls track began practice on Monday, March 11. Nick Meyer and Johnny Josephson return as head coaches for the boys and girls teams, respectively. After a scrimmage in Jordan last week, the teams are preparing for their first meet of the season, the Faribault Invitational on Tuesday, April 2. New Prague is scheduled to host a triangular meet on Tuesday, April 9, with Mankato East and Northfield.
The Trojan fast pitch softball team also began practice Monday, March 11. Coach Anna Borwege is preparing her team for its season opener Monday, April 8, at home against Chaska.
Tanner Oakes is the new head baseball coach at New Prague. His squad began conditioning drills on March 11 and full workouts on March 18. The Trojans’ season opener is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, at Farmington. New Prague’s first home game is Tuesday, April 9, against Chanhassen at Memorial Field.
The boys and girls golf teams both began practice on Monday, March 18. Steffi Neisen begins her second year as head coach of the girls team. New Prague is scheduled to open at the.....
