Sylvia Sophie Turbett was born on March 13, 1939, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Lillian (Ristow) Hoof. Sylvia was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith. She received her education in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Lester Prairie High School Class of 1957.

On April 18, 1959, Sylvia was united in marriage to Lynn Turbett at Frieden’s United Church of Christ near Norwood Young America, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord, where she was employed by the Gaylord Public School and Oak Terrace as a dietary aid in the kitchens. The couple was blessed with three children. Sylvia and Lynn shared 51 years of marriage before Lynn passed away on November 6, 2010.

Sylvia had many joys: reading, gardening, her flowers, music, cooking, baking and traveling. The farthest travel brought her to Brazil to visit Vitoria. The greatest gift she gave was to the American Red Cross which she did religiously. She was always ready to meet up with her friends, coworkers, classmates and relatives for any type of gathering.

Sylvia cherished the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Sylvia had a great love and care for her family and friends.  She lived a life filled with the spirit of Christ and carried this to her final days; knowing the power of His love brought her peace.

When she needed assistance with her daily care, Sylvia became a resident of Auburn Meadows in Waconia and then The Lutheran Home of Belle Plaine and passed away there on Monday, July, 15, 2019, at the age of 80 years. Blessed be her memory.
