Trojan girls soccer drop two games

The New Prague girls soccer team dropped a pair of contests last week.

The Trojans were defeated Thursday, Sept. 9 by Benilde St. Margaret's, 9-0, in a Metro West contest.

Two days later Owatonna defeated New Prague, 5-1.

"The box score doesn't show how well we played. The final score makes the game look a lot worse than it was," head coach Matt Anderson said about the Thursday loss.

"Obviously BSM is a tough opponent. What I am most proud of was that our energy never really wavered. We are fortunate to have strong leadership led by their work ethic and energy."

Anderson cited the efforts of Payton Morris, Aubrey Weckman, Rian Gibson, and Alexis Mattem with doing a great job of staying composed and playing with energy and intensity.

In the loss to Owatonna, Anderson said his team was short handed due to injuries, illness, and girls being out of town.
