Trojan girls win 2 going into holiday tourney
The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team upped its record to 7-4-1 as they closed out their pre-Christmas schedule last week with a pair of wins. New Prague defeated Hutchinson and Faribault.
The Trojans will compete in the Farmington Tournament beginning Wednesday, Dec. 26. Their first round game was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday against Eastview. They will play Simley at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, and take on host Farmington at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28.
Trojans 7, Tigers 2 New Prague scored three first period goals and went on to a 7-2 win over Hutchinson in a Wright County Conference game Tuesday, Dec. 18. The win puts New Prague at 2-2 in the conference.
"The girls played a very complete game. I was very happy with the effort and play throughout all three periods and it was probably one of our better performances as a team," Said Coach Taylor Ries.
Kaitlyn Blair put the Trojans on the board with goal at 5:48, assisted by Hanah Robasse. Just two minutes later, Lindsey Bjerke scored on assists from Lauren Moravchik and Blair at 7:53. Bjerke scored again at 16:17, on assists from Ellie Skaja and Blair.
