Trojan softball off to 2-1 start

After several postponed games, the New Prague Trojan softball team played two games indoors last week and finally got an outdoor game in on Monday, April 23. The Trojans lost their opener to East Ridge, then defeated Waconia and Minnetonka.

The Trojans (2-1, 1-0 Wright County East) were scheduled to face Faribault on Wednesday, April 25. They host Holy Family Catholic on Friday, April 27, then play at Delano Tuesday, May 1. The Trojans host Orono Thursday, May 3.

Raptors 4, Trojans 3 New Prague opened its season indoors on Tuesday, April 17, facing East Ridge at the West St. Paul dome.

The Trojans took an early 3-0 lead, but couldn’t hold on. The Raptors scored single runs in each of the last four innings to take a 4-3 win.

"We had too many costly errors on routine plays," Coach Anna Borwege said.

Offensively, the Trojans had good production from the middle of the order. Maddie Chromy, Emily Russo and Maggie Vivant all went 2-for-3 and Mara Seurer went 2-for-2.

Trojans 5, Wildcats 1 Kaitlyn Pickens and Mia Kraimer each had two hits and Megan Callahan drove in two runs for New Prague as the Trojans claimed a 5-1 Wright County Conference softball win over Waconia Friday, April 20.
