Trolley tours prove popular and insightful

Greg Tikalsky was the moderator for the New Prague Area Historical Society’s Trolley Tours of New Prague Sunday, Sept. 22. Tours that were popular as all three tours sold out and insightful, he said.

“I learned a lot from the passengers who grew up in New Prague,” said Tikalsky. “I’ll be able to add what I learned to the next tours.”

Tikalsky noted he found out town ball at its hight in New Prague was so important that when players were signed, to keep them in New Prague, the players were found teaching positions in the local school district. Tikalsky related the late Dr. E.E. Novak, MD, over his career in New Prague delivered between 5,000-7,000 babies. Tikalsky asked Dr. John Berg, MD, retired, who was on one of the tours, how many babies he delivered...
