Working toward being clean and sober with ‘Duct Tape and Grace’

With an instrumental version of “Amazing Grace” Timothy (Tim) Price began Duct Tape and Grace at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Pastor Ben Hilding told the nearly 90 people gathered, “Tonight we are privileged to hear a story that is full of ups and downs, but resonates with each of us.”
Price detailed how he came through his time dealing with alcohol and drugs to where this year he is celebrating 25 years of being clean and sober.
He said that before he took his first hit or had his first shot he was predisposed, as his father was an alcoholic. He noted his dad was a smart man, but thought there was a softer way for him to deal with his alcoholism than giving up drinking. Price was very young when he began using substances and within two years he was at a state where he either wanted to be high or dead. “Misery has no age requirements,” he said. He went into treatment. “I wish I could say after treatment at 14 I went on to a wonderful life,” said Price, adding that he didn’t. He began using again as his life got worse.
