Lonsdale was the centerpoint of Christmas-related activity this past Saturday.
Triumphant Life Church held an ornament-making activity in the afternoon. Next door, the Lonsdale American Legion hosted kids bingo. Down the street, Something For All held their outdoors Who-Ville event for all to meet The Grinch.
The American Legion hall was packed with families for bingo, put on by the Lonsdale Son’s of the American Legion. As in previous years, there was a kids food menu, adult and kid beverages, free face painting and free ice cream, and of course free bingo. No kid left empty-handed from prizes with a long table of smaller toys, small activities and candies. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus were available during the whole event to ask for toys or to take picture with.
Ice cream was a hot hit, particularly with the Locke family from Lonsdale. Siblings Amiya and Weston both chose their flavors and toppings in between playing games of bingo. Amiya Locke said bingo was her favorite part and Weston Locke said he loved the prizes. They were there with their parents Jon and Jaylyn Locke, who heard about the event from their mother.
After bingo let out, many families headed down the street to Something For All’s Who-Ville event. Although a chilly day, the tented Who-Ville provided just enough cover for families to stop and get pictures with The Grinch, decorate and make their own ornaments, play Grinch-themed ring-toss, color, or have a hot cup of coffee or cocoa.
