Elysian 4th of July Celebration set for this weekend

Five days of events are included in this year’s Elysian 4th of July Celebration.

The event began Wednesday, July 2 with the Miss Elysian, Junior Miss, and Princess of the Lakes Pageant. Candidates for the three different crowns included:

Miss Elysian - Elli Frank and Miley Roemhildt. Junior Miss - Genna Coon, Emmi Frank, Riley Mielke, Adelaide Splett, and Mya Stangler. Princess of the Lakes - Jillian Huber, Nora Potter, and Madison Roemhildt. Usher - Patrick Coon.

The Elysian Firemen’s Street Dance, featuring Smokescreen, will be held Thursday, July 3 under the big tent. There is a $5 admission. The Elysian Fire Department Silent Auction starts at 6 p.m. and will run through noon July 6.

There will be two medallion hunts with a top prize of $100 for each. These hunts will start with the first clue Friday, July 4.

The 4th of July will feature Face Painting and Balloons under the big tent, the 39th Annual “Bob Childs” Turtle Races at 12:30 p.m. under the big tent, the Grand Parade at 2 p.m., and Arm Wrestling under the big tent following the parade. The Parade will be led by Grand Marshals Jason and Kim James. The evening will featured the Johnny Holm Band starting at 9 p.m. There is a $10 admission to attend the dance.
