Lady Bucs split four one run games
Four games in five days for the WEM softball team ended in two wins and two losses for the Lady Bucs.
All four games could have been won by either team, with all the games finishing with a one run winner.
WEM defeated Medford Thursday, May 8 by a 5-4 score. The next day WEM defeated Maple River, 8-7, in a non-conference game. Nicollet edged the Bucs, 4-3, Saturday, May 10. Monday, May 12 Blooming Prairie pulled out a 9-8 win.
WEM is 2-7 in the Gopher Conference and 5-9 overall. They host NRHEG Thursday, May 15, travel to St. Clair Friday, May 16, and host Waseca Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m.
In the win over Medford, Robynn Schwichtenberg and Kaedyn Judd each hit triples. Liza Baker had two hits and knocked in two runs. Judd scored once and had one RBI. Schwichtenberg scored twice. Madalyn Miller and Miranda Krystosek each had a hit and and RBI. Alix Velzke did not allow an earned run in seven innings. she gave up eight hits ans struck out six.
In the win over Maple River, Velzke struck out nine and allowed three earned runs in eight innings. K.Judd and Schwichtenberg each had three hits and two runs scored. Paetyn Judd was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. K. Judd hit a double and Krystosek had a triple.
