New WEM football coach Sam Stier will be starting the 2023 season with a number of returning players from the Buccaneers team which finished 1-8 last season.

With a new coaching staff and more than 15 players returning with varsity experience, the Bucs should be able to show some improvement.

Stier has nine seniors, nine juniors, and 16 sophomores on his varsity team. A number of freshmen will also get a chance to see some action this season.

But for Stier, even though the players are returning, it is a clean slate. No player was guaranteed their previous position from 2022 or 2021. They were all competing for varsity spots like a brand new player would.

The senior class includes Aric Williams (5-9, 140), Luke Michael (6-0, 190), Isaac Quast (5-7, 170), Spencer Oorlog (6-3, 195), Bryce Gagnon (5-10, 255), Evan Lange-Wenker (5-8, 160), Koby Sanders (6-1, 265), and Macy Anderson (5-4, 115). Lange-Wenker, Williams, Quast, Oorlog, Michael, and Gagnon saw varsity action in 2022.

Lange-Wenker led the team with 309 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 12 catches in 2022. He will be used in multi positions this season and will see the ball plenty on offense.
