North Morristown 4th of July Celebration is Thursday
The 131st Annual North Morristown 4th of July Celebration will be held Thursday, July 4th. This is the oldest 4th of July celebration in the state.
The stands and games will begin at 9 a.m. This popular 4th of July Celebration will open with the Flag Raising at 9:45 a.m. by the American Legion.
The Theme Baskets/Silent Auction also begins at 9 a.m. with a wide variety of items to bid on. This will run until 1 p.m.
The Big Parade will start at 10 a.m. along with the Kiddie and Pet Parade (ages 10 & under). Entries are welcome and prizes will be awarded. Line up is at 9 a.m. Watch for Grand Marshals Dave and Bev Duhme.
At 11 a.m. the Medallion Hunt begins with clues being given out every hour. If you have a Celebration Button and find the Medallion you will win $100. If you don't have a button and you find the medallion, you will win $25.
There will be a Patriotic Program following the parade at approximately 11 a.m and will recognize present veterans. Guest speakers will be Tom Graham and Emma Kuball, 70th Princess Kay of the Milky Way.
A Bean Bag Tourney starts at noon, the RC Car Demolition Derby starts at 1 p.m., and Bingo for kids will start at 1:30 p.m. and for adults at 2:30 p.m.
As it does every year, the event features some of the finest Bluegrass music from not only the state of Minnesota, but from the upper midwest.
The Jolly Huntsman Band will perform old time music from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the beer garden. The Shifties will perform in the beer garden from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Potluck String Band (12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.) and Monroe Crossing (1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.) will perform throughout the day on the Main Stage.
