Six WEM girls advance to Section 2A Track & Field Meet

Senior Ashlyn Pelant won two titles and junior Addison Condon won one at the Section 2A North Sub-Section Track and Field Meet held Thursday, May 22 at Central Public School in Norwood.

These three along with seniors Loryn Caldwell, McKenna Schuster, and Tatum Richards, and seventh grader Rachel Mielke will represent the Buccaneers at the Section 2A Meet Saturday, May 31 at Mankato West High School.

Pelant picked up wins in the shot put with a distance of 38-feet, 1-inch, one of her top efforts of the year and the discus, with a distance of 112-feet, 1-inch.

Condon won the triple jump with a distance of 35-feet, 7 3/4-inches. She also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 15- feet, 10 3/4-inches.

Both Pelant and Condon have made numerous appearances in the Section Meet and both were State Qualifiers in 2024. They both have recorded the best distances in their respective events during the season.

Richards has also been to Sections before and she advanced this year in the pole vault by clearing 8-feet, placing 8th overall. Five competitors cleared eight feet.

Schuster will be competing in the 100-meter dash after placing eighth in the sub-Section with a time of 13.58.
