Superintendent leaving to take job in hometown

The search for a new Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Superintendent will begin after Ryan Jensen submitted his resignation, effective the end of June. Jensen was hired in 2022 to a three-year contract. He informed the WEM Board of Education of his decision last week.

Jensen, who lives in Princeton, has spent the past six years away from his family during the weeks while holding the position of Principal at Walker-Hackensack-Akeley for a number of years and the position of Superintendent this school year.

“”I really like this job. Everyone here has been extremely supportive of me and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the school board, staff, students, parents, and community members,” Jensen said. But for the past six years. I’ve only been home on the weekends or during breaks in school and I felt that I needed to pursue that opportunity and, if offered, take it.”

The opportunity was the Princeton High School principal position, which opened in March. Jensen was not looking to leave the WEM School District, unless a position in his hometown would become available.

“About a month ago I was informed that the Princeton High School Principal job would be opening. Shortly thereafter, I met with Gary (Michael) to inform him that it was my intention to apply for that position,” Jensen said. “I told Gary that my application for that position was not an indication of any dissatisfaction I have with my current position, but rather an opportunity to be with...
