WEM Superintendent candidates selected for interview

Candidates for the WEM Superintendent position were selected by the WEM Board of Education during their Monday, March 24 regular meeting.

Five candidates were selected from a total of 11 applicants. 12 individuals initially applied, with one rescinding their application. Two others started applications but did not complete them. Two others called with interest but did not submit an application.

The WEM Board spent last week reviewing the applications and Monday South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) search consultant Jeff Bertrang provided the board with five candidates SCSC felt would be the best candidates for WEM Superintendent position.

The board then discussed the 11 candidates and came up with the following five who they will be interviewing Thursday, March 27: Four of those candidates were among the five SCSC recommended.

• Darren Kern who is the current Le Sueur-Henderson Elementary Principal.

• Dr. Jennifer Wilson who is the current WEM High School Principal.

• Dr. Michelle Mortensen who is the current Superintendent at Redfield, SD Public Schools.

• Mark Winter who is the current Virginia, MN High School Principal.

• Dr. Michael Neubeck who is the current Byron, MN Superintendent.
