Half-Way to St. Paddy’s Day celebration is this weekend
It will be a fun-filled weekend in Kilkenny Sept. 9 and 10.
The annual Half-Way to St. Paddy’s Day Celebration has been extended to a two-day event this year.
The events start Saturday, Sept. 9 with a Shamwalk 5K Fun Run/Walk at 10 a.m. There will be prizes for the first place finisher 13 and younger and 14 and older. There will also be a prize for the male and female with the most Irish spirit.
Also starting at 10 a.m. are the flea market, city booth, and food vendors. There will be shirts and hoodies for sale and the food vendors will include Knights of Columbus, Jonny’s Smokin’ BBQ, Brick Oven Bus., Lakes Co. Eats, and the Toy Box Saloon.
Kids activities including games, face painter, and inflatables will be part of these activities.
The parade will start at 12:30 p.m. at St. Canice Church and will head north along Laurel Avenue.
Toilet Bowl Races will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday music includes the Northerly Gales (noon to 4 p.m.), Andrew McGuinness (4 to 8 p.m.), and the Old Country Boys at the Toy Box Saloon starting at 8 p.m. There will also be Irish Dancing at 2 p.m.
Sunday will feature a BBQ Cook-Off, car show, live music by Andrew McGuinness at the Toy Box Saloon, a bean bag tournament. The BBQ and Car Show winners will be announced at 4 p.m.
