2024 Montgomery Area Local Election Results
The 2024 election had some key local races. Democrat Angie Craig won over Republican Joe Teirab for congressional district 2 by little more than 56,000 votes. Republican Terry M. Stier won over Democrat Sara Nett-Torgrimson by a large margin of almost 10,000 votes in senate district 22B. Democrat Kristi Purcell returned to senate district 58A with about 1,000 more votes than Republican Rita Hillman Olson.
The race for Le Sueur County Commissioner District 1, which encompasses Heidelberg, part of New Prague and areas between New Prague and Montgomery, was won by a very large margin by Dennis Tietz over Elizabeth Krocak, with Stier getting a little more than 73% of the votes.
Montgomery’s uncontested mayor race went again to Thomas Eisert. Lonsdale’s mayoral race was a very tight one between Scott Pelava and Tom Berg, with Berg winning with 37 more votes. Tammy Holicky won Kilkenny’s mayoral race, garnering a little over 70% of votes.
Heidelberg’s open mayor and city council positions are not fully announced yet, as the mayoral race was left to write in candidates, as well as a special election for one council position. As well, the regular council election had an unusually high number of write-ins, leaving only one sure candidate elected to council. See the full results below.
