Agnes Koubele, 96

Agnes Koubele was born on the Frank Koubele family farm in Montgomery on January 20, 1925.  She attended District 18, St. Rafael Catholic School and graduated from Montgomery High School in the class of 1942.  She moved to Chicago, IL and worked at Montgomery Ward, the US Post Office and the National Park Service as a secretary.  

She married Edward Zellmer, Jr. on November 9, 1946, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Chicago. Shortly after their marriage his health began to fail, and in March 1947 they returned to Montgomery. 

Before their only child was born - a daughter Cheryl - he entered the Veterans Hospital at Ft. Snelling  where he remained until his death on September 30, 1950.

Agnes was employed at Spoors in Le Center, Green Giant in Montgomery, and worked at Minnegasco as an office manager/cashier from 1953 - 1979.

She was a past president of the Montgomery Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary, and helped serve meals at many weddings, funerals and parties for years.

On  May 4, 1968, she married Charles (Don) Gammon at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. In 1982 they relocated to Las Vegas, NV to be close to her daughter's family. They enjoyed camping in National Parks before he died on November 8, 2012.

Agnes died on November 5, 2021, at Tranquil Breezes Care Home where she had resided since having a stroke four years earlier.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl; son-in-law, Larry Cornwell; grandsons, Dustin and Casey Cornwell; son-in-law, Tim Neiman; step-daughter-in-law, Joyce (Vlasak) Gammon; brother-in-law, Francis Hamele; sister-in-law, Blanche Zellmer; nieces and nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husbands; her step-son, Jeffrey Gammon; step-grandson, Charles (Alex) Gammon; parents, Frank and Anna (Cervenka) Koubele; brother, Frank Koubele; sisters, Anna Zahratka, Mary Gregor, Helen Hamele, Emily Koubele, Betty Koubele; brothers-in-law, Ed Zahratka, Sr., Frank Gregor, Louis Zellmer, Paul Vargo, Gerald Kovarik, Arnold Tupy; sisters-in-law Alvia Koubele, Margaret Vargo, Ceil Kovarik-Tupy, nephews and nieces.
