Fairmont shuts out TCU in gridiron opener

Fairmont used a number of big plays to defeat Tri-City United, 48- 0, in football Thursday, August 31 in Montgomery.

Big plays were the story of the game for Fairmont as they had three touchdowns over 50 yards. Fairmont accumulated 260 yards through the air with 88 of them being on one pass in the fourth quarter.

“For the first game of the year with a lot of new faces I thought we did a lot of things. Our effort all night long was phenomenal, which isn't always easy when you are down. I was proud of how hard we played. We took a couple of chances that we might not normally take, trying to get some momentum back, which led to a couple of Fairmont touchdowns,” head coach Matt Collins said. “I thought the game was...
