Germaine Marie Perry, 94

Germaine Marie Perry was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and card player. She left this world on January 2, 2022, at the age of 94.

Germaine (Geri) Greer was born on April 24, 1927  to James and Margaret Greer in Kilkenny, Minnesota, in fact right to the end she introduced herself as Geri Perry from Kilkenny! After graduating from Montgomery High School in 1944 she went on to take some college classes but didn’t earn her Associate Degree until over 40 years later. In 1987, at age 60 she graduated with a degree from Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut, California.

Geri’s first job was with Jolly Green Giant, then Donaldson’s Department Store in Minneapolis where she claims she learned true customer service. These skills served her well in her career with AT&T (“Ma Bell”) where she worked for almost 24 years.

In 1949 she met Conway and the two were inseparable from that point on. Geri and Con were married for over 60 years. Together they had two children Tim and Sheila, and four angel babies that she is now reunited with.

Geri was a fiercely dedicated wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. God and her family came first, a value she instilled in all those around her. Her close friends and caregivers were also considered family to her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

For many years Geri was an active member of St. Christopher’s Church in West Covina. Geri loved spending time with her family, playing cards, telling stories, and watching her beloved Dodgers, Packers, and Notre Dame.

Germaine was predeceased by her parents, brothers, husband Conway, her 4 babies, and many beloved relatives and friends.  She is survived by her son Timothy (Nellie) Perry and her daughter Sheila (Tom) Edwards, grandchildren Jenni (Matt) Merry, Brianne Perry, Brian (Catherine) Edwards, and Erin Edwards, along with her great-grandchildren Cole, Anthony, Connor, Cody, and Eve. Special thanks go to Veronica Perry who was Geri’s loving caregiver for 16 years.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Jan 21, 2022 at St. Peter and St. Pauls Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Her rosary will be held at 6:30 pm on January 20, 2022, at  Chaffey Communities Cultural Center Chapel at 525 W. 18th Street, Upland, CA 91784. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Saint Christopher Catholic Church in West Covina, CA.
