Letter to the Editor: Grocery Store
Dear Editor:
I’d like to start off saying I have been very disappointed with the grocery store Molter’s.
After reading the article with information Molter’s provided to the Messenger, I’d like to say a few words. They said they had a certain numbers to achieve but the support just wasn’t there. Well Mark Molter, it appeared that you really didn’t have your heart in it from the beginning. Oh you showed up in the beginning with some heavy hitters to get it up and running, then you dropped the ball. I can’t remember how long it’s been since I’ve seen a full shelf. To use “labor challenges” as an excuse is pitiful. Didn’t you have labor challenges in your other stores? You also said that there just wasn’t enough community support. Did you ever wonder why?
I think I can tell you a few reasons, like: very few choices to pick from, prices being not competitive, and walking in and seeing row after row with empty shelves. Then, when I asked a manager what’s going on, the statement was, “We’re not a Coborn’s or a HyVee!” Well you never really had to be, you just needed to keep the shelves stocked and have a great attitude!
You newer even put your business name on the building! Don’t you think this community is smarter than that? The writing was on the wall for months. I think it was \very unfair of you to say you didn’t have the community support! I know tons of people that went there all the time, and I’m one of them! But when I stopped to get something simple, like cream or 1% milk, you didn’t have it. What did you think would happen?
Let’s stop playing the blame game and just face facts. You ran a poorly run store, period!
Sincerely,
Pam Edel,
A very disappointed community member of Montgomery.
