The Minnesota River Bulldogs win 6-2 over the Austin Packers in section playoffs.

Strong defensive plays and stick handling helped advance the Minnesota River Bulldogs in the Class A boys hockey sectional playoffs.

The #2 seeded Bulldogs, faced #7 seeded Austin Packers Thursday night in Le Sueur. Coming off a bye in the first round, the Bulldogs held the Packers to two goals and 19 shots on goal in the matchup.

Going into the third period it looked like the Bulldogs were going to have a shutout victory. But Austin fought and managed to score two goals before the final whistle blew. The Bulldogs scored in each period, tallying six by game’s end. The final score was 6-2.

With the victory the Bulldogs head to Rochester to face the winner of the Albert Lea and Faribault matchup, which has been moved to Monday, Fev. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
