Schmiesing sets new school record

The Tri-City United (TCU) girls swimming and diving team claimed two individual titles and one relay championship in the Big South Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 26 at St. Peter.

Junior Ella Schmeising won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke. The 100-yard freestyle relay team of senior Olivia Onken, senior Tahlia Buckingham, freshman Grace Harmeyer, and eighth grader Emma Krenik were also champions.

Schmeising won the 200- yard IM in a time of 2:16.50, which was 12 seconds in front of the runner-up from St. Peter. She won the 100- yard breaststroke in 1:11.17, which was 10 seconds in front of the runner-up from St. Peter.

The relay team won their race in 53.13, more than three seconds ahead of St. Peter.
