Tennis team nears end of season

The TCU Tennis Team is wrapping up its season this week with games against Le Sueur-Henderson on Monday and Lakeville on Tuesday.

The last couple of weeks found the girls competing against Sibley East on September 23, Jordan and Albert Lea on September 27, and United South Central on September 28.

The team lost 0-7 against Sibley East. Coach Diane Tiede said her team was outmatched by a very good team.

“We had to forfeit at No. 2 singles due to an injury,” the coach stated, adding, “Cynthia Balcazar and Molly Closser had a good start to their No. 2 doubles match, but couldn’t hold on, losing in three sets. Savannah Squires had the closest match at No. 4 singles. They were all tied up at 5-5 in the third set, when the lights went out. Unfortunately, we had to end that one in a draw.”

On September 27, the team played Albert Lea/Jordan in Jordan. Tiede said the team lost 3-4, but it was much more competitive for them.
