Dual-citizen Langridge crowned 2024-2025 Miss Czech Slovak Minnesota
First boy Junior Ambassador entered into program
Saturday evening was a gathering from around the state at the Montgomery American Legion for the 35th Annual Miss Czech Slovak Minnesota Pageant.
Festivities started with an authentic Czech meal, prepared by board member and Head Chef Josh Gare and his volunteer crew. Gare was recognized for his work in the organization, with special attention for the meals, by the Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassadors with the Honorary Commodore’s Award.
A new era also broke ground with the introduction of allowing boys to participate as a part of the Junior Ambassador program for the pageant. R.J. Timmerman, 13, was crowned proudly, along with four other young girls. The board for the pageant had a discussion on the matter of allowing boys to also participate and agreed it was time. “I’m really excited to be the first boy,” said R.J. Timmerman.

...Ellaina Novak, 2023-2024 Miss Czech Slovak Minnesota, gave a tap dance presentation to the polka music, “Apples, peaches, pumpkin pie,” between the talent and interview, and kroj competition portion of the pageant.
Following Novak, each contestant displayed their kroj and highlighted with narration each element of it and its representation. Specific pieces of the contestants’ kroj related to their family members — past or present. Most of the kroj had elements that they had personally sewed and worked on themselves.
The judges gave a sweep of the Talent, Heritage, Kroj, Oratory, and Stella Vlasak Spirit Awards to Sarah Langridge. Last year’s 1st Princess, Alexia Timmerman, was crowned this year’s 2nd Princess. Gabrielle Stoudt was crowned 1st Princess. Sarah Langridge was crowned the 2024-2025 Miss Czech Slovak Minnesota Queen. Langridge and her parents were swept by tears as her father put the sash on her and her mother crowned her.
Cake, beverages and music commenced the evening’s ceremonies.
