King named Le Sueur County Board Chair
Third District Le Sueur County Commissioner John King of Le Sueur was named the chairman of the Le Sueur County Board Tuesday, Jan. 8.
First District Commissioner David Gliszinski of New Prague, was named the vice chair during the board's first meeting of 2019.
The Le Sueur County News was named the county's legal newspaper.
The Lake Region Life was named the county's 2nd legal newspaper.
Newly elected officials were also sworn in by Judge Mark Vandelist.
Among those were Commissioners Steve Rohlfing (3rd District), Lance Wetzel (4th District), and Danny O'Keefe (2nd District).
Also being sworn in were Sheriff Brett Mason, Auditor/ Treasurer Pam Simonette, Recorder Sharon Budin, and County Attorney Brent Christian.
In other Le Sueur County Board business: * The county entered into an agreement with Schwichert's Tecta America, LLC which will give the county service on all heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
There are more than 65 HVAC units within the county's buildings.
* The county approved a number of budgeted items presented by Sheriff Brett Mason. They included a device that will help extract information from cell phones, computers, etc., 27 new agency guns, gun holsters, and new tasers. Mason said each sworn peace officer in his department will receive a new gun so there will be continuity with the guns and ammunition. He said officers used to provide their own guns but now will be issued one from the county. Upon leaving, officers need to return the gun. Those retiring from the county will have a chance to purchase their gun.
* Nearly 80 computers were purchased for various county departments. A three-year Mitel software assurance program was approved for the maintenance of county phones.
