Adapted softball rally comes up short at state tourney

The New Prague Trojan adapted softball team lost both of their games at the State CI Adapted Softball Tournament June 1 and 2 at Coon Rapids High School.

The Trojans lost to two of their Southern Division opponents, Chaska/Chanhassen/ Prior Lake/Shakopee and Burnsville/Farmington/Lake ville. The Chaska team went on to the championship game, losing in eight innings to St. Cloud, while the Burnsville team defeated South Suburban for the Consolation championship.

The New Prague team also included players from Tri- City United, Belle Plaine and Jordan schools.

Southern Stars 12, Trojans 4 New Prague took a 2-0 lead to start the game, but couldn’t hold off a strong Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee team and lost to the Southern Stars 12-4 in the opening round of the State CI Adapted Softball Tournament Friday, June 1, at Coon Rapids High School. The Southern Stars scored three in the first and five in the third inning on their way to the win. New Prague had 5 hits in the game, which was their third meeting between the two teams this season.

Blazing Cats 13, Trojans 9 New Prague tried to rally after falling behind 6-0, but it was too much to overcome in a 13-9 loss to Burnsivlle/ Farmington/Lakeville Saturday, June 2, in the State Consolation semifinals. New Prague pulled to within a run with a five-run fifth, but the Blazing Cats answered with five of their own in the bottom of the inning. New Prague made it an 11-9 game in the sixth scoring four runs, but trailing by four in the seventh inning, could not cut into the lead. Evan Minar and Breanna Starks had two hits and scored two runs each during the Trojans’ late rally.
