James “Chester” Retka, 85
James “Chester” Retka, 85, of Montgomery, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at his home in Montgomery. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 17, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, visitation one hour prior at the funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lexington. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.
Chester was born on November 12, 1933, in Lexington to George “Butch” and Antonette F. (Gostomczik) Retka. Chester attended St. Raphael’s Catholic School in Montgomery and graduated from Montgomery High School.
Chester served in the US Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. Chester owned and operated “Chester’s” in Montgomery for 41 years.
Chester is survived by daughter, Michelle Hein of Shakopee; very special friend, Dolores Walerius of Montgomery; nieces.
Chester is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Retka, George Jr. Retka; nephew, and George “Butch” Retka; Michelle Hein’s mother, Adeline Speikers.
