Kathy Beatty, 86
Kathy Beatty passed away at her home in Montgomery, MN, on September 23, 2024, at the age of 86. She was born in McGrath, MN, on July 19, 1938, to Simon & Julia (Bolan) Schwarzbauer. Kathy moved to St. Paul, MN, shortly after her graduation from McGrath High School.
In February 1957, she married Leonard Beatty at Sacred Heart Church in Wahkon, MN & together they raised six children.
She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Beatty, Joan (Marty) May, Carol (Tim) Jewett, & Amy Beatty; granddaughters Kimberly (Stephen) Pettinelli, Allison May, Audrey Jewett, Anna Jewett; great-grandchildren Oliver, Sam, Lucy, & Clara Pettinelli; siblings Jim, Julie, & Ken Schwarzbauer; cousin Donna Hessel; as well as other extended family. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, daughter Anne, & son Lenny.
In 1966, Kathy & Leonard moved to rural Montgomery & started a farming business where she was the business manager, earning a certification in Farm Business Management from South Central Technical College. Kathy also worked at Citizens State & Frandsen Banks. In her retirement, Kathy enjoyed volunteering at the Montgomery food shelf, traveling, Hallmark movies, & spoiling her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Kathy’s Catholic faith was an integral part of her life. She was a member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for 58 years holding a number of positions including parish & Archdiocesan councils, home & school officer, eucharistic minister & faith formation leader.
Having a love for traveling, Kathy & Leonard logged thousands of miles exploring the United States visiting national parks & enjoying all the experiences along the way.
Kathy’s greatest love was her family, caring for & encouraging them, attending their events, & taking great pride in their accomplishments. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Monday, October 7 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 8 at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Fr. George Grafsky officiating. Burial at St. Michael Cemetery in rural Montgomery.
